Social issues in rail transport

Aim: According to the Transport Community Treaty signed between EU and WB6 parties, each year the Transport Community Treaty Permanent Secretariat organises Social Forum. Since 2021 is the European Year of Rail, this year the Social Forum will be focused on rail.

Description: The Social Forum of the Transport Community was established to bring together representatives from the governments, organisations of workers, employers and any other relevant bodies to address social matters in transport. The 1st Social Forum took place in October 2020 and it has identified key areas that need to be tackled: workers’ fundamental rights, health and safety at work, labour laws and equal opportunities. The aim of the 2nd Social Forum is to bring together a wide network of stakeholders working together to shed light on important social issues in the rail sector.
