BRUSSELS – On 1 October 2026, Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community Tālis Linkaits met with Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission, on the sidelines of Connecting Europe Days to discuss cooperation on transport reforms, support for regional partners and closer integration with the European Union’s transport network.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on priorities at the beginning of Director Linkaits’ mandate. He underlined the importance of close cooperation with the European Commission, particularly DG MOVE and DG ENEST, in advancing shared objectives and helping regional partners translate reforms into practical improvements.

Drawing on his initial bilateral visits across the region, Director Linkaits highlighted partners’ appreciation of the Secretariat’s support in transposing and implementing EU transport legislation, alongside European Commission grant funding for small-scale projects and technical assistance.

Looking ahead to the Transport Community Ministerial Council meeting scheduled to take place in Sarajevo on 11 December 2026, Director Linkaits invited Ms Kopczyńska to participate and proposed using the occasion to advance cooperation on the Western Balkans–Eastern Mediterranean Corridor.
