SARAJEVO – Director of the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community, Tālis Linkaits, met with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Communications and Transport, Edin Forto, to review cooperation to date and discuss priorities for the months ahead.
The two officials welcomed the fruitful cooperation between the Transport Community and the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They agreed to maintain the positive momentum and continue working together to advance transport reforms, improve infrastructure and strengthen the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s connections with the region and the European Union.
The meeting took place during Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency of the Transport Community’s Regional Steering Committee, which provides strategic guidance for the implementation of the Transport Community Treaty and supports coordination among the regional partners and the European Union.
Director Linkaits and Minister Forto also confirmed that the next meeting of the Transport Community Ministerial Council will be held in Sarajevo in December.
The Ministerial Council meeting will bring together ministers responsible for transport from across the region, representatives of the Transport Community and the European Union. Discussions will focus on progress in implementing transport reforms and advancing infrastructure projects that improve connectivity within the Western Balkans and between the region and the EU.
The Transport Community will continue working closely with Bosnia and Herzegovina and all regional partners to develop safer, more efficient and better-integrated transport networks and support the region’s integration into the EU transport market.
