On, 21 June 2023 in Doboj, new stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed the Memorandum of Cooperation of Rail Excellence.
The establishment of a Regional Railway Centre of Excellence will provide additional education, training, and career advancement opportunities, contributing to the development of a highly capable rail workforce. The next step is defining the details for establishing the Rail Centre of Excellence. Minister Forto witnessed the signing, which emphasised the importance of rail for the economy end environment. Rail needs skilled experts and today’s agreement will bring us closer to the Rail Centre of Excellence.
Back-to-back with Bosnia and Herzegovina signing the Memorandum of Cooperation for Rail Excellence, the 16th Technical Committee on Rail took place in Doboj. It brought together public institutions, academia, and railway operators/undertakings.
The stakeholders discussed the following topics on the agenda:
Investments and EU Alignment: Investments in the rail sector must go hand in hand with aligning with the EU Acquis. This ensures comprehensive development and integration of the rail industry within the broader European context.
Human Resources: The human component is a crucial asset that requires attention and nurturing. By prioritising education, ongoing training, and professional development, we aim to equip the rail workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the evolving industry demands.
Regional Railway Centre of Excellence: Recognising the need for skilled professionals, the establishment of a Regional Railway Centre of Excellence will provide additional education, training, and career advancement opportunities, contributing to the development of a highly capable rail workforce.
Connectivity and Infrastructure: Enhancing connectivity between cities through improved rail networks is a primary objective. Upgrading existing infrastructure and fleet, as well as establishing high-speed rail connections, are key steps in achieving this goal.
Sustainability and Innovation: Recognising the importance of sustainable practices, we aim to drive innovation in the rail industry. Embracing digitalisation, implementing eco-friendly technologies, and adopting energy-efficient measures are essential for a greener, more sustainable rail sector.
