TIRANA – Following a successful year under the Serbian Presidency, Albania has officially taken over the Presidency of the Transport Community Regional Steering Committee for the 2025–2026 term.
The formal handover took place during the 28th Regional Steering Committee Meeting of the Transport Community which is taking place in Triana on 28 October 2025. The occasion was also an opportunity for both presidencies to reflect on past achievements and outline the priorities and activities for the year ahead.
Ms Emeše Lalić Urban, State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, representing the outgoing Presidency of Serbia, said that Serbia is grateful for the opportunity to chair the Regional Steering Committee and for the close cooperation with the regional partners, the European Union, the Committee members, and the Transport Community Secretariat. “By transferring the Presidency to our Albanian colleagues, we wish them a year of success and strong results,” she pointed out.
Ms Erjola Muka, General Director of Transport Policies and Development of Infrastructure and Territory at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, representing the Presidency of Albania, stated that the authorities of Albania warmly thank all colleagues for their trust and support. “Taking over the Presidency is both an honour and a responsibility, and we will carry it out with full dedication and competence. We look forward to a dynamic and productive year ahead,” she underlined.
Albania’s Presidency will guide the work of the Regional Steering Committee over the next year, ensuring continuity in advancing regional transport reforms, strengthening connectivity with the European Union, and fostering closer cooperation among the Western Balkans and the EU.
