BELGRADE – The Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community has officially launched a new initiative to help the observing participants – the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine – improve their transport systems and bring them closer in line with European standards.
The launch follows the signing of a contract with the consultancy consortium which will carry out the work over the next two years. The goal is to support the observing participants in strengthening their transport policies, improving how their institutions function, and making progress toward full membership in the Transport Community by focusing on the areas such as rail, road, road safety, and waterborne transport.
At the online kick-off meeting held on 23 July 2025, participants discussed the priorities, and the steps needed to meet them. The consultancy consortium also presented their plan for working with each government to deliver targeted support.
The assistance will focus on helping observing participants align their laws and rules with those of the European Union and building stronger public institutions that can manage transport reforms more efficiently.
The initiative will run through 2025 and 2026, with a series of tailored assignments that bring in experts and tools as needed. It will be flexible, adjusting to the specific needs of Moldova, and Ukriane.
The total value of the project implemented by the consortium “WYG Savjetovanje d.o.o – WYG Consultancy B.V.” is just over EUR 425,000, with the three quarters set aside for technical assistance and the rest dedicated to training and capacity building.
