CHIȘINĂU – A training on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Standard Technical Specifications was held today in Chișinău, moving the development of the Republic of Moldova’s national ITS Strategy forward. The event was organised under the EU-funded project supporting the participation of the observing participants in the Transport Community.

The training focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge needed to implement ITS projects in Moldova. Key topics included general specifications and cross-cutting requirements, ITS communications standards, adapting current ITS projects to new specifications, hardware and software requirements, identification of priority modules for short- and medium-term implementation, operational and service-level models, and practical use of specifications in tenders and project development.

More than 20 representatives from public institutions and other stakeholders took part in the discussions.

Transport Community representatives underlined that the preparation of Moldova’s ITS Strategy is a crucial milestone in its Growth Plan with the European Commission, ensuring modern and efficient transport systems. They also highlighted that this is the first and largest Technical Assistance contract awarded by the Transport Community for Moldova and the other Observing Participants.

Once finalised, the ITS Strategy will guide Moldova in implementing new digital transport solutions, helping to modernise mobility, improve efficiency, and support its path towards greater integration with the EU transport market.
