BELGRADE – The Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community held a meeting with Mr Marian-Jean Marinescu, European Coordinator for the Western Balkans–Eastern Mediterranean Core Network Corridor, to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation and advancing the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in the Western Balkans. The meeting took place at the Secretariat’s premises in Belgrade on Friday, 10 October 2025.
The discussion centred on aligning regional transport priorities with EU standards, enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of infrastructure projects, and supporting the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU’s extended TEN-T network. Both sides underlined the importance of coordinated efforts to accelerate the implementation of strategic investments and policy reforms along the Corridor, ensuring seamless connectivity between the Western Balkans, EU Member States, and neighbouring regions.
Mr Marinescu highlighted the European Union’s strong commitment to fostering better integration of the Western Balkans through transport infrastructure, while the Secretariat reiterated its readiness to provide expertise and coordination in support of this goal.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared vision of creating a modern, interoperable, and sustainable transport system that contributes to economic growth, facilitates trade and mobility, and brings the region closer to the European Union.
