WARSAW – Railway experts from across the Western Balkans, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and the European Union gathered on 4-5 June 2025 in Warsaw to learn, exchange ideas, and build stronger and safer railway systems across the region and the EU.

Hosted by the European Union Agency for Railways, Poland’s Office of Rail Transport, and the Permanent Secretariat of the Transport Community, the two-day event focused on how national railway authorities can improve safety, align with EU laws, and better serve both passengers and businesses.

Participants explored how safety is managed in EU Member States, how national rules can be updated to match European standards, and how regional partners and observing participants can work together more effectively. Real-life examples, expert presentations, and hands-on discussions made the event both practical and forward-looking.

The event helped participants understand the process of issuing Single Safety Certificates, which are essential for operating trains across borders in Europe. They also discussed how to supervise railway companies and ensure they follow both national and EU rules.
